WHAT DOES AN EXTERNAL WASTEGATE DO
An external wastegate is a critical boost-control component in many performance turbocharger systems. When exhaust pressure and boost reach the wastegate's control point, the wastegate can divert exhaust gas away from the turbine wheel. This helps regulate turbine speed and turbocharger boost pressure.
External wastegates are commonly used with aftermarket turbo manifolds and larger turbocharger systems where precise exhaust bypass control is required.
